Creating a Community for Climbers

Problem

Finding a climbing partner is hard. Mismatched schedules, locations, and a multitude of other variables get in the way of finding the right climbing partner.

Solution

RockBase mobile app allows climbers to find partners in their current location. Climbers can share information about their gear, preferred climb type and level, as well as a short bio to let some personality shine through. Once connected, climbers can use the chat to get to know each other before setting up a climbing session.

1

Usability Testing

We conducted in-depth interviews with climbers to evaluate the functional prototype of the app.

The feedback we received from the climbing community confirmed we are on the right track and gave us ideas for improvements.

I updated the information architecture to ensure an intuitive navigation system, and clear organization of content.

I created wireframes, and mockups for new functionality.

Community

Outreach

I continue to support the creation of marketing materials to get the community excited about our app.

We launched a RockBase website, and created posters to promote the app in climbing gyms.
